Mumbai .In front of the Pulwama terror attack, the shooting of an advertisement of the superstar Amitabh Bachchan's next film and cricketer Virender Sehwag , VVS Laxman, Harbhajan Singh and Suresh Raina was stopped for nearly two hours on Sunday. Not only that, no Pakistani artist can work in Hindi films. Federation of Western India Cine Employees has decided to boycott all the Pakistani artists.
In view of the 40 soldiers killed in a terrorist attack on a CRPF convoy in Kashmir, 24 film organizations protested in Film City, Goregaon. These organizations include the Federation of Western India Cine Employees (FWICE) and the Indian Film and Television Directors' Association (IFTDA).
Others including Sehwag, Harbhajan, Raina and VVS Laxman were shooting an advertisement movie in Film City, but they joined the protests to stop their shooting to show their solidarity with the soldiers.
Sehwag offered free education
Virender Sehwag said, "Whatever we say or do, it will probably be less for the soldiers and their contribution." We can only thank them and whatever we can do to help them, we should do it. We are very sad but hope for a better time for all of us in the future. It is a compliment that on Saturday, Sehwag had offered to bear the educational expenditure of children of all CRPF personnel who had died in the terrorist attack.
Harbhajan said that he hopes that the sacrifice of martyrs will not be wasted. This is a very difficult time but we have to stay together so that they can not be able to break us. I am grateful to all the soldiers who protect us all the time. Cricket players or actors are not heroes. The real heroes of the nation are our soldiers.
Major film organizations and large number of cinematographers, makeup men, costume decorators, junior artists, video editors, fighteres and dancers participated in the protests. Casting director and filmmaker Mukesh Chhabra, actress Niya Sharma, Isha Koppikar and others were also present in the protest. According to sources, the shooting of Amitabh Bachchan's film 'Brahmastra' was also stopped for some time.
Completely boycott of Pakistani artist
BN Tiwari, President of the Federation of Western India Cine Employees, said that all film organizations have decided to completely boycott any Pakistani artist who works in Hindi films. IFTDA president Ashok Pandit also said the same and said that the film organizations have also decided to boycott Navjot Singh Sidhu.
Significantly, Sidhu had condemned the attack but had also said that can the entire country be blamed for the acts of some people? People of different sections have criticized Sidhu for his controversial statement.
